DuckTales: Remastered App Reviews

Still holds up

This is one of the best remakes of a NES game, the new sprites are gorgeous and the redone music is fantastic. The original Ducktales voice cast is a treat too. The touch screen controls dont work as well as the console versions but theyre not bad. Now please please make Darkwing Duck Remastered, thats my favorite Disney game!

fix that right away

this game takes forever when loading when you open the app and then takes long time when loading again after you select a level to play

Just as good as the original!

Used to spend hours on this game, and I could easily do it again. Graphics are great, game plays well.

All these true to the original comments are prob paid...

Loved the game years ago on the Nes. Disappointed with this cause its more than a remaster its a redesigned. Has to many child elements, holding your hand, cute cut scenes etc. I never understand this when they remaster something they think they can make something that was great better. Would not buy again.

The original is way better

After so much meaningless dialogue in the first half hour of the game, I quickly appreciated that the devs put in a skip scene option. The characters drone on and on and on and there is no sense about any of it. I am not impressed with what they have come up with as a remastered title. For $.99 cents thats about all I would go out of my way to play this game. They could have done so much more... I swear, some of these classic titles would receive better lip service if they were crowdfunded. The thing that is by far and away the most dumbfounding thing about this remake is that the original is so much better - even after 20 years.. This is what financial juggernaut Disney can come up with...? yawn.....

Great game!

Disney, please release more classic console games like this one (also the Lion King, Aladdin and many others) for iOS. Make the dreams come true. Thanks.

A spruced up fossil.

I love 2-D gaming. Of the +200 titles Ive downloaded on iOS, the best ones have either rocked a top down or sideview POV. Well, despite being 2-D, Ducktales Remastered doesnt make the cut. The developers updated the visuals and nothing else. Many of the game design decisions hale straight from the 8-bit era. Enemies respawn, either shortly after being dispatched or being offscreen for a moment. Due to this, even on easy, Ducktales is artificially difficult. You collect millions of dollars in jewels, for no apparent reason. There are no upgrades to buy. You dont even get extra men, which youd expect. So whats the point? The levels arent really that interesting. They are large-ish and tdo look different from each other. Yet, they all feel and play the same. Their only saving grace are the bosses. But you have to get through some tedious territory to get there. The controls arent optimal. Due to the small size of the directional buttons, its easy to miss them. Sometimes they stick, usually keeping you in a crouch. Couple this with constantly reappearing enemies and youre going to die a lot. I never played the OG game on the NES, so this has no nostalgia appeal to me. Maybe Id be more accepting if it did. At any rate, I was mildly disappointed about paying $1.05 for this. Had I not caught the sale and paid the full $10.60, Id be sick. If you want quality 2-D gaming, check out Shantae: Riskys Revenge, Dust: An Elysian Tale, Wayward Souls, Swordigo, Heroki, the offerings of Ravenous Entertainment and more additional titles than I can list. But, Ducktales Remastered is definitely not one of them.

Excellent port with better graphics

I remember playing the original and this is just as fun as it was back then. Love the new graphics. Wish more NES games would update their graphics like this.

Finally, a Disney game with NO micro transactions

This is a great game, and for once, Disney has made a game without tons of in-app purchases

Control

This game is all about control and explore, however, porting this remaster game to iOS doesnt make a lot of sense. Control is bad. I never lost the final chase on Nes but I failed 4 times in this version. It is very frustrating so I have to switch to easy mode. Keep this game in console only. Dont expect player will bring a joystick for iPhone during travel.

Fun but...

I was having a lot of fun until I found out you cannot save the level. I was at the end of the level and got tired and turned it off. I googled to see if you can save the level, but it says you have to complete the whole level!!! It was a pain to get through what I did.

Great remake

Great game. I just wish the controls were a little better.

So glad to finally have this app!

Its usually an annual Christmas tradition for me to download new games to my devices. So when I found out that the App Store was offering DuckTales Remastered for only 99 cents, did I go ahead and purchase? Why, soitenly! (As Curly would say) I love how much of this game is true to its original circa-1989 Capcom Nintendo counterpart, plus the image files featuring original sketches and cels from the DuckTales cartoon are a plus! Theres also the option to hear the background music in 8-bit, of course! Just the one thing that bothers me (and thus, I give the app only 4 stars) is that I cannot seem to complete the final climb getting away from the lava. When I climbed up to get to the treasure chest just before Glomgold did on the original (NOT remastered) version, that was it! I dont ever recall beating the lava on that old version at all! Maybe you want to update the lava speed on the next app update? (I missed out on some serious Christmas binge-watching because of that final climb on the new version!) Anyway, if youre a serious old school Disney fan such as myself, then PLEASE purchase this app! YOULL LOVE IT

No sound without headphones.

Weird glitch where there is no sound unless one have headphones.

Good but

As fun as I remember, but the jump & pogo buttons are too far apart. Ugh it is hurting my thumb :( Can play with 2 fingers to hit the 2 buttons but not the same NES feel that way.

Fix the Jump controls!!!

The excellent experience is ruined by random (or not?) instances of the Jump button not responding. Himalayas and the last stage, especially, it seems some particular jump locations are often unresponsive when pressing the forward and jump button simultaneously, resulting in instant death as you walk into a hole!

That Into

The game itself is good. Not exactly a new and original game, but a fun one nonetheless. I havent played the original game, but I assume this lives up to it really well. But... The real reason to get this game........ Is for that 16bit remix of the original theme song. Its fabulous

iCloud game save support across devices

I love this game and Im so glad that Disney decided to remaster it. Now that its on Apple TV it desperately needs iCloud game save support across all of your iOS devices so that you can pick up where you left off across all of your devices and save your game to iCloud.

Fun & Challenging for 5 yr old

I loaded this game for my grandson whos 5. He loves it. Hes able to get most of the levels except the boss levels. Ive even had a few struggles with the boss modes. The graphics are fun. Reminds me of when we watched the cartoon. The only thing I wished this game had was a save mode.. Yes, a level save mode. My grandson sometimes is almost to the boss level & has to stop playing. All his efforts are gone & he has to repeat the whole level

Crap
